The Best Exercise for Golf

Don't get me wrong based on the title, there are many exercises that are great for your overall health and your golf game. But if I want biggest bang for the buck it's the Single Leg Romanian Deadlift (RDL).

This can be a hard exercise to do but once you master it you get a lot of benefits, including...

  • Balance

  • Glute Strength

  • Mobility

  • and More

Based on that list what more can you ask for in an exercise?

Lately, talking with clients I'm noticing a trend. Where we are putting the pressure in our feet during the golf swing is off. Watch this video where I explain how to properly put pressure to optimize your golf swing.

From the picture you can see balance on 1 leg. You can also see that mobility is required to be able to get into this position. You should be able to lay on the ground on your back and lift your leg to this position. If you cannot, this may be beyond your level right now. Now, that's not the only mobility required for this movement as pictured, your upper body needs mobility to get to that position. Your glutes have to be strong as well. They are the main mover for the exercise. If they are weak your back will take the brunt of this and that is the last thing we want.

Watch this video for more on how to do this exercise and how to progress it to the ultimate!

Try it and let me know how it goes!
